The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO)

The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) fleet boasts a range of advanced weapons capabilities, including gunboats, fast missile boats and support, training, cargo and survey vessels, which can be deployed to protect the Sultanate’s territorial waters, safeguard its national strategic interests and economic security, monitor the safe passage of shipping and oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as guaranteeing the overall safety of units of the Sultan’s Armed Forces at sea, and related support defence operations.
The RNOV Al Munasir was inducted into the RNO to carry out joint amphibious support and marine transport operations.
The Said bin Sultan Naval Base with its advanced operational, training and service facilities, is one of Oman’s leading naval establishments and its Naval Training Center has been accredited by the AGCC Computer HQ as an International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) examining center. An agreement has been concluded with the British company, Vosper Thorneycroft, for the construction of three new RNO ships as part of the navy’s ongoing modernisation programme.
