The Council (Majlis) of Oman

The Council of Oman (Majlis Oman) is formed as stipulated in Article 58 of the Basic Law of the State by combining of member of the State Council (Majlis A'Dawla) and Consultation / Shura Council (Majlis A'Shura). It assists the government in drawing up the general policies of the state. The council meeting is held by the request of Sultan Qaboos inorder to study and discuss issues raised by his excellencey and make some decisions by majority votes. All the members of this Council are addressed by Sultan Qaboos on yearly basis.
