SQU launches Japanese language course
Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Muscat, has launched an intensive Japanese language course.
While SQU offers a five-week Japanese language course focusing on conversational skills, it is the first time an intensive course is being offered covering all four skills of language - reading, writing, speaking and listening.
The course is five days a week and continues until January 10, 2012. Besides the SQU, the embassy currently offers a conversational course at Muscat College.
On the first day of the class at SQU, Midori Asoh, the course lecturer, led the classes and almost 20 students attended greetings and basic characters in Japanese. Some have already learnt Japanese by themselves through the Internet or anime/manga, and some have just started learning the language with ambitions to study in Japan for degrees. They have different reasons to join the course, but share the same goal: to know more about Japan through the language.
